“Bunnahabhain — which means ‘mouth of the river’”
The colour is old oak and has a moderate bead. On the nose we found Bovril and
Scotch pie. “ere is also chocolate eclairs, tiramisu and oiled deckchairs.
The palate brings peanut brittle, mollases, Salmiakki (Swedish Liquorice), camp
co%ee and dark fruits. The finish is sweet and salty. A big Bunna!
Unlike the other Islay distilleries, Bunnahabhain’s classic spirit is very lightly peated more, akin to a rich, Highland malt. Fresh aromatic notes $oat over the little bit of smoke, with a malty sweetness and a fruit and nut quality. Older expressions develop a big, chewy body and lots of toffee, cherry and chocolate orange tones. There are a couple of heavily peated varieties that display the distillery’s historic style from a century ago.
